Carson City, Nevada – A high-speed chase ended tragically on Sunday night, resulting in a fatal crash that claimed the lives of two people. According to Sheriff Ken Furlong, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Saliman Rd.
Reports suggest that the suspect vehicle was trying to evade law enforcement officers following the theft of merchandise from a nearby Burlington store. In an attempt to escape, the car crashed into a small SUV, killing two of its occupants, who were passengers in the suspect vehicle.
The driver of the car and another passenger were also injured and have been transported to Renown Regional Medical Center for treatment. Sheriff Furlong confirmed that the third passenger is in critical condition, while the driver of the SUV’s condition remains unknown.
The Nevada State Police will lead the investigation into the crash. Meanwhile, the Nevada Department of Transportation has confirmed that the road has been cleared and reopened. The reopening is expected to have no impact on transportation to school on Monday morning.
The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist with the investigation.
