Reno, NV- A brush fire, identified as the Hill Fire, ignited outside of Reno on Tuesday night, triggering a swift response from authorities and leading to voluntary evacuations in the area. As crews work diligently to contain the blaze, residents living between Dog Valley and Ridge Street in Verdi, west of Reno, are urged to exercise caution.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the Hill Fire is currently burning south of Dog Valley Road, situated on the California side of the state line. While the situation is being closely monitored, authorities have initiated voluntary evacuations to ensure the safety of residents in the vicinity.
According to the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, firefighting crews are making “substantial progress” in their efforts to contain the fire.
Crucially, Washoe County authorities have reported that there is no immediate threat to nearby structures. They have also advised evacuees to seek shelter at the Boomtown Casino Hotel, where support and resources are available until further notice.
As the situation develops, investigators will be working diligently to determine the possible cause of the Hill Fire.
