NEVADA – An explosion at the Val d’Isere Condos in Mammoth Lakes earlier this week injured five people, according to authorities. The blast occurred just before 9:30 a.m. on March 22, 2023.
Two workers were rescued from the snow and debris and transported to Mammoth Hospital. A family of three was also hurt in the explosion. A man and his son were admitted to Mammoth Hospital, while his wife had to be flown to another hospital for treatment.
Search and rescue teams, including K-9s, searched the building and confirmed that there were no other victims. Building and safety personnel remain on site, which is closed to the public, to assess surrounding buildings.
The cause of the explosion is still under investigation. On a positive note, four of the five people who were injured have been released from the hospital.
