NEVADA – More than $55 million will be given to Nevada for high-speed internet.
The money will help connect more than 40,000 homes in the Silver State through broadband infrastructure and other digital connectivity projects.
The money for the projects comes from the American Rescue Plan’s Capital Projects Fund. It will go to Nevada’s Low-Income Multi-Dwelling Units Broadband Program, which helps pay for broadband infrastructure in low-income housing.
Internet service providers who are paid by the program will take part in a program that gives low-income families a $30-a-month subsidy.
“High-speed internet is an essential part of life for families in Nevada. Unfortunately, digital disparities limit many Nevadans from using even the most basic of internet services,” said Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen. “I’m proud to announce Nevada will receive more than $55 million to help deliver high-speed internet to more than 40,000 households across our state. With this new funding, we are one step closer to making access to high-speed internet statewide a reality.”
