NEVADA – The Nevada State Treasurer’s Office is offering a matching contribution promotion for new Nevada-sponsored 529 College Savings accounts.
From now until March 31, anyone who opens a new account can receive a one-time matching contribution ranging from $15 to $500 based on their initial contribution.
The State Treasurer’s Office will contribute a total of $50,000 until funds run out. Eligible programs include SSGA UPromise 529 plan, Putnam 529 for America, Vanguard 529 College Savings plan, USAA 529 Education Savings plan, and the Wealthfront 529 College Savings plan.
The deadline for reporting new account information to the State Treasurer’s Office for the verification and processing of the matching contribution is April 9.
Duplicate beneficiary accounts are not eligible for a matching contribution, and enrollment data will be monitored for eligibility.
Funds in these accounts grow on a tax-deferred basis, and distributions from the plan are not taxed if used for educational purposes.
Interested individuals can enroll in a 529 account and make contributions at nvigate.gov/2023-march-matchness.
