NNCCF’s Annual “Shave for the Brave” Event Gains Support from Sparks City Officials

NEVADA – Sparks city officials are going bald in a show of support for children’s cancer research. The Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation (NNCCF) is organizing the annual “shave for the brave” event, which coincides with St. Patrick’s Day.

The NNCCF has been hosting the event for 18 years and has raised over $3.3 million since 2006. In partnership with the St. Baldrick’s foundation, the event aims to raise money for childhood cancer research.

Sparks City Councilman Donald Abbott expressed the significance of the event, saying it’s not just about cutting hair but also about putting oneself in someone else’s shoes. He added that the event helps to build community and raise money for a worthy cause.

The official shave for the brave event will take place on Friday, March 17th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Reno Ballroom. Over 4,000 local heads have been shaved during the event’s history, and the organizers hope to continue the trend this year.

The NNCCF is encouraging the community to participate in the event, whether by shaving their heads or donating to the cause. The funds raised will support local families affected by childhood cancer and help advance research toward finding a cure.
