RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – The City of Reno is working to raise awareness of the value of fire safety, and the Reno Fire Department is assisting with this endeavor.
The Reno Fire Department burned a real Christmas tree on January 6 in honor of National Take Down Your Christmas Tree Day and to emphasize the value of removing dried trees (fuel) from the house.
One out of every 34 recorded house Christmas tree fires, according to the United States Fire Administration, resulted in a fatality.
After Christmas, a lot of these incidents happen because the tree was kept inside the house for too long and dried up, which led to the flames. These advice is provided by the Reno Fire Department:
