NEVADA – The Reno Fire Department (RFD) is asking for the public’s help in looking into two separate fires that happened in Reno on Thursday, February 2.
Two fires that may have been started on purpose were put out by firefighters, and investigators are now trying to find out who did it:
10:41 a.m. at 1595 Sky Mountain Drive.
RFD was called to a building fire, and when they got there, they found multiple fire sets inside the empty building, which used to be a 24 Hour Fitness. An investigation showed that the fire sprinklers went off and stopped the fire from spreading. Also, they found that the fires were started on purpose.
1790 Silverada Blvd. at 8:39 p.m.
RFD put out fires in several U-Haul box vans in a storage lot off Oddie Blvd. Investigators found that the fires were started on purpose.
If you know anything, you should call RFD at (775) 334-2300 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900.
Also, the RFD told the public about a fire that happened at 2370 Orange Lane at 7:47 p.m., where three apartments were damaged and people had to leave. Investigators from RFD found that the fire started by accident when an electrically charged stove top set off the nearby flammables. There were no reports of anyone getting hurt in this fire.
