Reno, NV – Reno Police Department (RPD) has arrested a minor following an alleged shooting incident on Thursday evening. The confrontation appears to have stemmed from a dispute about a dog being walked without a leash.
Details of the Incident
According to an official statement from the City of Reno, the incident occurred in south Reno shortly before 6:40 p.m. A man reportedly approached a minor who was walking their dog without a leash. After a verbal exchange, the minor allegedly fired a gun at the man before fleeing to a nearby apartment.
Response and Investigation
The RPD responded swiftly and secured the area surrounding the apartment. The minor later exited the apartment and was taken into custody without further incident. The minor has been transported to the Jan Evans Juvenile Justice Center.
A police K-9 unit located three .22 bullet casings and bullets believed to be linked to the firearm used in the incident. No injuries were reported.
Charges
The minor is now facing charges related to weapons violations, including possession of a firearm without a CCW, brandishing a firearm, and discharging a firearm.
