Roughly 800 Christmas Tree Permits Are Available
On Monday morning at 8 a.m., people began lining up in the twenties cold to purchase Christmas tree permits in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
By midmorning, the queue had wrapped around the building housing the Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit and into the adjacent parking lot.
LTBMU Public Information Officer Lisa Herron remarked, “Based on previous in-person sales, we anticipated there would be a wait.”
On Monday, 560 out of a total of 1,360 licenses went on sale. On Tuesday morning at 8 a.m., the remaining 800 permits will be made available to the public.
The LTBMU headquarters is located at 35 College Drive, Suite 102 in South Lake Tahoe.
