Several groups are joining together to assist disadvantaged children in Northern Nevada.
The Eddy House has joined forces with The Children’s Cabinet, a non-profit organization that oversees Safe Place. The Safe Place Program has 59 walk-up locations and 120 mobile locations that serve as safe havens for at-risk youth.
RTC buses will now carry Safe Place insignia, and bus drivers are taught to recognize youngsters in distress or who may be in danger.
“Sometimes there might be a youth that’s just standing there or they are quiet and if you are just aware that there is a program like Safe Place, it’s never a wrong time to ask if they are looking for help,” said Joanna Ramos, Program Coordinator at The Children’s Cabinet.
The Safe Place Program has a 24 hour hotline 1-(800) 536-4588 or you can text ‘SAFE’ with your current location to 4-HELP.
For more information, you can visit Safe Place.
