RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – Adults 55 and older may volunteer with Seniors in Service to help strengthen Northern Nevada communities one life at a time.
Michelle Rector, the executive director, came by Morning Break to urge volunteers to join up for the Foster Grandparent Program.
Foster grandparents spend time at school with children, guiding and instructing them in academic and social contexts. Foster grandparents become ingrained in the classroom and school atmosphere.
Volunteers who satisfy income requirements will receive a stipend of $3.15 per hour, as well as sick and vacation time and paid holidays. Everyone will get a pre-service orientation, training, and travel reimbursement.
This program allows elders to keep mentally and physically active by sharing their knowledge and experience with the kids in our community.
