RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – For some, the true shopping begins the day following the holidays.
Shopping with money given as a present for the holidays, as well as refunds and exchanges, all take place today.
Some people we spoke with said they go post-holiday shopping every year, but there were a handful who went for the first time today.
Those who have participated for the first time think that if the offers continue to seem good, they may make it a habit. “Sometimes you get a present, and you need additional things to go with it,” says Hayley Jordan, a Christmas shopper. “It’s always good to be able to acquire the small things you want.”
Post-holiday shopping has been dubbed “Second Christmas” by some. According to reports, 70% of customers want to buy this year to take advantage of Christmas bargains.
According to Mastercard Spending Pulse, which analyzes all types of payments including cash and debit cards, holiday sales grew 7.6 percent, a slower rate than the 8.5 percent growth from a year ago when people began spending the money they had saved during the early stages of the epidemic.
Other residents claim they wait until the day after Christmas to buy all of their family’s gifts.
Many others mentioned how they’ve given out more gift cards this year than usual. “It’s easier,” says Ben Romero, a Christmas shopper, “they can buy what they want or depending on whether there’s supply, they can acquire it.”
Some individuals claim that the day following the holidays is the greatest day to go shopping because there are usually fewer people. However, this year there are more shoppers out than last year.
