Carson City, Nevada – The Carson City Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has declared that threats of a “violent event” scheduled for Wednesday at Carson High School are unsubstantiated, according to an official release from CCSO.
The sheriff’s office initiated the investigation after receiving tips about a potential threat on Tuesday evening at 10:29 p.m. Sheriff Ken Furlong promptly notified the school’s superintendent, Andrew Feuling, who, in turn, informed other school faculty members.
Overnight, detectives, school resource officers, and patrol deputies worked diligently to trace the origin of the threat. By 4 a.m., they successfully located the original social media post containing the threatening message. However, authorities concluded that the message was related to a different high school located outside of Nevada, and there was “no specific, imminent threat evident locally.”
Despite the determination that the claims were unsubstantiated, additional law enforcement officers will be present at Carson High School throughout Wednesday. This heightened security measure aims to “ensure a sense of safety and security,” as stated in the CCSO release.
Sheriff Furlong expressed gratitude to the community for their cooperation in the investigation, emphasizing the significance of residents’ tips. He highlighted that the prompt sharing of information by the community enables law enforcement to swiftly respond to potential threats, ensuring the safety of students and faculty alike.
