NEVADA – A tractor-trailer accident caused a major traffic jam on Interstate 15 northbound on Monday afternoon, leaving commuters stuck for hours. The incident occurred at Lake Mead Boulevard and caused significant delays with traffic initially backing up to Charleston Boulevard.
According to the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, the truck rolled over around 10 a.m. and as a result, three lanes had to be closed. The RTC described the situation as “major delays,” which caused inconvenience to many motorists.
The U.S. Highway 95 ramp to I-15 North ramp was also closed following the accident. The closure compounded the traffic snarl as commuters had to find alternative routes.
The situation, however, was eventually resolved, and all lanes were reopened by 2:20 p.m. The incident serves as a reminder to motorists to exercise caution while driving, especially around heavy commercial vehicles.
