NEVADA – A truck fire incident prompted the closure of a portion of Highway 190, located just outside Death Valley National Park, on Wednesday. The incident, which occurred on May 17, saw the swift response of firefighters from the National Park Service and Southern Inyo Fire Protection District.

According to a news release, a semi-truck hauling two dumpster trailers loaded with brush trimmings experienced mechanical issues after ascending 3,000 feet out of Death Valley. Regrettably, the situation escalated as the truck caught fire.

Firefighters on the scene quickly deployed firefighting foam to contain the blaze, focusing their efforts on the truck’s cabin and the first trailer.

Thankfully, there were no reported injuries resulting from the incident, ensuring the safety of those involved.

As authorities continue their investigations into the cause of the fire, efforts are underway to reopen the affected section of Highway 190 and restore normal traffic flow.
