RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – A large amount of fresh precipitation is expected to usher in the new year in a part of western Nevada.
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a flood warning for parts of Nevada and California, as another atmospheric river is predicted to move across the area beginning Friday.
The watch will be in force beginning Friday morning and will last through Saturday night.
According to the National Weather Service, significant rainfall and runoff may cause flooding of major rivers, creeks, and streams, as well as other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may burst their banks.
Mainstream river flooding is most probable on the Carson River’s East Fork at Gardnerville and the Susan River near Susanville.
The Reno-Sparks, Carson City, and Minden regions, as well as the wider Lake Tahoe area and Lassen and eastern Plumas counties, are under a tornado watch.
