According to Elko Interagency Dispatch, firefighters are battling a blaze near Harrison Pass Road south of Jiggs.
The fire was reported at 9 a.m. near Green Mountain, about five miles southeast of Jiggs. According to Northeastern Nevada Interagency Fire officials, it had burned approximately eight acres as of Monday morning.
It was the Elko District’s second wildfire in September. The first was held on Saturday near Lamoille, on less than three acres.
In Nevada, an excessive heat warning is still in effect. A red flag warning for fire danger has been issued for the southeastern part of Elko County.
