RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – In the first-ever Name-A-Snowplow competition, held by the Nevada Department of Transportation, Nevada Thaw Enforcement was one of the first winning names chosen.
The three winning snowplow names for Nevada’s three areas are:
Southern Nevada Cirque du Snowleil / Mount Charleston
Sierra Scoop – Mt. Rose Highway and State Route 431 in Northwestern Nevada
Nevada Thaw Enforcement – Interstate 80, Near Elko, Northeastern Nevada
Honorable Mention: SnowBeGone Kenobi
Using a custom-made decal, the winning names will be applied on the designated snowplows.
NDOT requested Nevadans to submit names for snowplows that would symbolize the three NDOT areas around the state, taking inspiration from other states who had their own snowplow naming competitions.
The submission window was open from December 19 through December 26. An NDOT review team received and examined more than 900 entries. Nevada-specific names were given further consideration.
The competition honors the hard work of NDOT’s highway maintenance personnel, who use the plows to keep Nevadan traffic connected and safe. The competition also highlights NDOT’s record personnel shortage among highway maintenance operators and exhorts competent individuals who want to give back to their community to apply right now.
