NEVADA – The latest winter storm has hit our area hard, bringing heavy snowfall and resulting in the closure of several highways. As of 3:41 p.m., the California Highway Patrol has announced that Westbound I-80 is closed at the Nevada State line, while eastbound I-80 is closed at Colfax due to multiple spin outs. At present, there is no estimated time for the reopening of these highways.
In addition to the closures, chain controls are also in effect for several other major highways in the area. These include portions of Mt. Rose Highway (SR-431), SR-28, US-50, CA-89, CA-267 and CA-88. Drivers are advised to use caution and take their time while traveling on these routes.
For up-to-date traffic updates, drivers can visit the Nevada 511 (nvroads.com) (NV) and QuickMap (ca.gov) (CA) websites. With more snow expected in the coming days, it’s important for drivers to stay informed and plan their routes accordingly.
