A fatal crash early Thursday morning has closed all southbound lanes of Interstate 15 near mile marker 106, approximately 11 miles south of Mesquite, Nevada. Authorities report that the collision occurred just before 7 a.m. and involved a passenger vehicle and a commercial truck.

According to Nevada State Police, one passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The identity of the victims has not been released.

In response to the crash, traffic is being redirected off the freeway at Exit 112 onto State Route 170. Drivers are being advised to turn around and head back toward Mesquite. Officials have not yet provided a timeline for when the roadway will reopen.

The incident is expected to cause delays for travelers heading from the Mesquite area toward Las Vegas, which lies roughly 80 miles to the southwest. Nevada State Police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the collision.
