LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – The Henderson Police Department has reported the arrest of a suspect in a fatal shooting nearly two years ago.
Marquis White, 29, was arrested on Nov. 2 in connection with the January 2021 murder of Xavier Steen, according to authorities.
Henderson Police previously stated in a press release that officers responded to the junction of Sunset Road and Valle Verde Drive on the morning of Jan. 1, 2021, on a report of a car wreck and gunfire.
Officers discovered the man with gunshot wounds to his legs and transported him to Sunrise Hospital, where he died from his injuries on January 15.
The victim has been named as Xavier Steen, 34, by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. It was determined that his death was a murder.
According to investigators, one automobile was rear-ended by another, and the two drivers stopped to exchange information. One motorist grew enraged and pulled out a revolver, shooting numerous bullets at the other before driving away.
More information concerning White’s arrest was not immediately available.
White is being jailed at the Clark County Detention Center without bail on a charge of open murder with a dangerous weapon. According to prison records, he is also suspected of breaking parole or the terms of a suspended sentence.
White was set to appear in Henderson Justice Court on Thursday morning, according to court records.
