Prosecutor Confirms Suspect Fatally Shot by Police and Murder Victim of Suspect

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – The guy who was shot by a Las Vegas Metro SWAT officer on Friday night has been named, as has the victim who was killed earlier that day.
The coroner in Clark County identified the suspect as 49-year-old Jose Alexis Cabrera Hernandez. Multiple gunshot wounds were the cause of his death. The coroner also named the man Hernandez was suspected of murdering as Jano Gonzalez Blanco, 48, who died from numerous gunshot wounds.
According to Metro police, Hernandez was the one who shot Blanco to death at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. in a house on Kipling Street, close to W. Jones Boulevard and Washington Avenue.
During the course of their investigation, authorities discovered Hernandez had a captive and was about four miles away in a residence near Spring Mountain Road and Jones. According to authorities, the hostage was freed, and Hernandez was shot and killed by SWAT Officer Dewane Ferrin while attempting to arrest him.
Ferrin, who has worked for Metro since 2000, is presently on paid administrative leave until the result of the shooting investigation.
This was LVMPD’s 12th officer-involved shooting in 2022.
