Las Vegas, NV (July 30, 2024) – Miguel Narro, 36, is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after allegedly shooting a security guard during a grocery theft at a supermarket on Saturday, July 20.
According to police reports, officers responded to a call at the supermarket on the 800 block of North Decatur Boulevard around 1 p.m. and found the security guard suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim remains in critical condition.
Witnesses reported that Narro entered the supermarket, filled a cart with groceries, and attempted to leave without paying. The security guard confronted him as he loaded the stolen items into a vehicle. During the confrontation, another suspect exited the vehicle and pointed a gun at the guard. The guard deployed pepper spray in self-defense, but the suspect shot him multiple times.
Police were able to identify Narro through witness statements and the vehicle’s registration. A subsequent investigation revealed Narro’s previous criminal history, including an arrest for attempted murder.
The following day, corrections officers conducting a home compliance check found Narro at his residence. He was arrested on an active warrant. The suspect vehicle, still bearing traces of pepper spray, was discovered at his home.
During police questioning, Narro denied involvement and claimed his vehicle was stolen. However, surveillance footage contradicts his statement.
Narro is currently being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center. He faces charges of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, owning/possessing a gun by a prohibited person, robbery with the use of a deadly weapon, battery with the use of a deadly weapon, and discharging a gun into an occupied structure or vehicle. His next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, July 31.
Police urge anyone with information about the second suspect involved in the shooting to contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
