A Newborn Baby Was Safely Surrendered to Henderson Fire Station
LAS VEGAS – Earlier today, the Henderson Fire Department was notified by the Henderson Police Department that a newborn baby had been safely surrendered there.
HPD reports that at around 2 p.m. on Monday, officers were called to a Henderson fire station after a newborn baby was turned up to authorities. Henderson police state that the handover followed the requirements of the Safe Haven Law (NRS 432B.630).
The newborn baby girl was deemed healthy by doctors, reports say.
Henderson police report that if a newborn baby is found abandoned, the parents must comply with Nevada Revised Statute 432B.630. “encourages parents who decide to abandon their newborns to do so in a safe manner and stay anonymous,” as stated by HPD.
Henderson police confirmed that no laws were broken and that “proper protocols were followed by law enforcement and medical staff” in the surrender of the infant.
