LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – By March, Desert Springs Hospital will have 970 fewer workers. The medical center made the big announcement on Wednesday that hundreds of employees would be fired.
An employee who wished to remain anonymous stated, “I know a lot of us are mad because we had been asking if the hospital was going to be closing they kept saying no to not to believe any of the rumors and yesterday they sent out this email.”
The devastating news was delivered to the unnamed employee, who currently works at Desert Springs.
“I had been at work when I got an email; everyone was kind of checking their phones, and everyone started crying; it was a very strange day,” said the person.
The staff at Desert Springs Hospital were informed of operational changes. Something that this woman says was previously mentioned.
“There were various rumors, and then people said inspectors were coming, which was an indication last week that there was a huge shortage of medications, and people were kind of like, okay, is this true?”
The rumors turned out to be true.
The hospital claims that it would end all inpatient operations and lay off employees as a result of its renovation plans and high costs.
Prior to being discharged, they claim that existing patients will continue receiving treatment.
However, the most difficult part for employees is figuring out what will happen next.
She continued, “A lot of people are saying that we can transfer to other hospitals, but how are you going to fit in all of these employees at other hospitals and only people who get to stay in the ER?”
This woman and her friends say they will apply to other hospitals in the area, but they are worried about whether or not they will be able to find work quickly.
