The attorney who was initially set to represent the man charged with murder in the death of Tupac Shakur says Duane Davis is no longer his client.
Ross Goodman said in an email to news outlets Wednesday that Davis “was not able to meet the terms of the agreement. I wish him well.”
No other details were provided. It’s unknown who will represent Davis moving forward.
Goodman told a judge during a court appearance on Oct. 19 that he could not be confirmed as the attorney of record yet for Davis and asked for the arraignment hearing to be continued. The request was granted and the hearing was rescheduled for Thursday, Nov. 2.
Goodman told reporters after the hearing that Davis planned to plead not guilty and would seek to be released on bail.
A grand jury in September indicted Davis, also known as Keffe D, for murder after authorities alleged that he was the “on the ground, on-site commander” in Shakur’s murder.
Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said that by allegedly abetting the crime, Davis can be charged with murder under Nevada law.
Davis’s new attorney has not yet been announced. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 2.
