LAS VEGAS – Authorities in Las Vegas have discovered a body in an east valley wash, shedding light on the enigmatic disappearance of two people during Wednesday night’s severe storms. Metro police made the dreadful discovery during a follow-up investigation launched after reports of two missing persons in the washes during the storm. The corpse was discovered near Sahara Avenue and Nellis Boulevard in the 5400 block of Clubhouse Drive.
While the police have not yet confirmed the identity of the body, there is a possibility that it could be one of the missing individuals from Wednesday night.
The sequence of events unfolded on Wednesday around 9 p.m. when officers were called to the 200 block of East Flamingo Road, close to Koval Lane. Multiple reports had indicated that people were being carried away by the canal waters due to the heavy rain and flooding.
The fire department responded swiftly, managing to rescue one man from the wash. Unfortunately, a woman remains missing after the incident.
Further chaos ensued around 9:20 p.m. when emergency services were summoned to the area of Sahara Avenue and Lamb Boulevard. Reports were received about a man being swept away by the floodwaters.
Despite the park police’s attempts to save the man, their efforts were unsuccessful.
According to police statements, a citizen informed the authorities that two more people had been washed away in the vicinity of Sahara Avenue and Nellis Boulevard.
The response to these incidents was extensive, with a total of five engines, one heavy rescue unit, one rescue team, and two battalion chiefs collectively involving 28 personnel from the Clark County Fire Department.
