Boulder City Police Say Fake 911 Call Leads To High School Lockdown
LAS VEGAS – A fake 911 call, according to Boulder City Police, caused a temporary lockdown at a local high school Wednesday morning.
BCPD stated they got a 911 call at approximately 9 a.m. from someone claiming to be a Boulder City High School teacher. The caller stated they were sheltering in the school from a gunman.
According to BCPD Chief Tim Shea, the on-site school resource officer activated the active shooter protocol immediately.
“Strike teams comprised of multiple cops were deployed inside the school in less than 90 seconds,” Shea said. According to BCPD, law enforcement soon determined that there was no threat.
Police claimed they received a similar report from a nearby school “just seconds” after the call from Boulder City High School.
For 45 minutes, the school was placed on lockdown as police investigated and cleared the situation.
“These threats are illegal and will be investigated and prosecuted to the greatest extent of the law,” stated Chief Shea.
