LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – Authorities claimed a bystander was hit by gunfire during a gunfight between a suspect and cops at a recreational vehicle park in northern Arizona.
Officers from Bullhead City police responded to the Silver View RV Resort on Friday to investigate complaints of a man wearing a bulletproof vest pointing a pistol at individuals.
According to authorities, the man fired from inside a trailer at policemen, who returned fire. One of the suspect’s shots burst through another trailer and “hit an innocent bystander.”
The person was transported roughly 95 miles (152 kilometers) north to a hospital in Las Vegas and was expected to live. There were no cops injured.
Kyle Schafer, 41, of Bullhead City, was identified as the suspect by police on Saturday, but no charges were filed against him.
Schafer reportedly barricaded himself inside his trailer for over eight hours before surrendering and being apprehended. He was also taken to a hospital in Las Vegas with unclear injuries.
Bullhead City lies on the Arizona side of the Colorado River, close to the border with Nevada and California. It is home to around 41,000 people.
Lake Havasu City Police will conduct an investigation for Bullhead City police in accordance with the department’s policy for incidents where officers discharge their guns.
