California Man Is Suspected of Breaking Into Numerous Homes in the South Las Vegas Valley

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – According to Las Vegas police, a guy from Los Angeles is accused of breaking into many residences since October and taking hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of cash, jewelry, and gadgets.

With five charges of home burglary, one case of attempted residential burglary, three counts of grand larceny, and burglary while in possession of a handgun, Mario Mitchell, 24, is being kept in custody on a $50,000 bond.

The following sequence of events was detailed in the arrest report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department:

Each incident’s CCTV film, which showed a subject ultimately identified as Mitchell conducting burglaries, was found between the dates of Oct. 30 and Dec. 1, 2022.

On October 30, a woman went grocery shopping and returned to find her house had been looted. Three males were captured on tape breaking into her house and fleeing with goods, including a surveillance camera that was inside the house.

According to the report, a woman left her house on November 6 and discovered that her sliding glass door was broken upon her return. Mitchell was shown on home video smashing the door but not really entering the house.

Police said that when the victim departed to go to church that day, another residence was broken into. When he got back, he discovered that his safe and automobile had been burglarized. Mitchell was captured on camera at the house’s front entrance earlier, rang the doorbell.

When the victim got home on November 15, he discovered that his dining room window had been shattered. The man reported to police that his bank card, perfume, laundry detergent, and headphones were all gone despite the fact that several pricey devices were not taken.

After the initial break-in, a lady contacted police later that day to say that Mitchell was at her door when she woke up. The report claims that when Mitchell was questioned what he was doing, he said, “Oh [crap], wrong home,” and then fled.

On November 17, a married couple left for supper, and when they came back, they discovered that their house’s lights were on. Before reaching the front door of the house, Mitchell is seen on the video footage opening the trunk of his automobile. A firearm, jewels, a safe, $200,000 in cash, and passports were all listed as missing in the report.

Police were able to compare Mitchell’s car’s damage to that shown in the burglaries’ CCTV film thanks to a prior traffic ticket.

Mitchell was identified via photographs taken after earlier arrests and matched the person seen on video.

Jan. 9 is Mitchell’s next court appearance.
