LAS VEGAS – Clark County Commissioners are actively reviewing proposals to broaden the licensing opportunities for full-service liquor bars. During the county’s recent board meeting, Vincent Queano, Clark County Business License Director, disclosed that his department’s research revealed potential areas that qualify as suitable locations for full-service local bars. However, the existing zoning regulations restrict these areas from obtaining such licenses, necessitating a change in the municipal code.

Currently, full-service liquor bars, where alcohol is served but gaming activities are not permitted, are only permitted in specific multi-use developments within designated regions. These establishments may serve food, but it is not a mandatory requirement.

The idea to amend the code to enable full-service liquor bars in places like the Commercial Center and other redevelopment districts was initially discussed by commissioners in May. Following this recent meeting, commissioners have requested a proposed ordinance to facilitate this expansion, which will be presented for further consideration in an upcoming session.
