LAS VEGAS – Ines Flores and Erick Lorenzo are facing animal abuse charges for allegedly leaving three puppies without food or water in their Las Vegas apartment for a full day. The incident was reported on Monday, May 1st, after officers responded to a call about possible animal abuse near Tropicana Avenue and Maryland Parkway.
According to police, officers observed Lorenzo carrying a kennel towards a dumpster outside the apartment. When officers questioned the couple, Flores and Lorenzo claimed that they were at work all day on Saturday, April 29th, but fed the puppies around 8 a.m. that day. However, police found an extreme odor coming from the apartment and, in a follow-up interview, Flores admitted that they did not have time to care for the puppies.
The breed and exact ages of the puppies were not indicated in the report. As of Friday, the condition of the puppies was unknown. Both Flores and Lorenzo paid bond and are scheduled to appear in court in June. The case remains under investigation.
