LAS VEGAS- In an energetic rally held on Saturday in Las Vegas, former President Donald Trump expressed his unwavering determination to secure a “gigantic win” in the upcoming Nevada caucuses and emerge victorious in the state’s presidential election later this year.
Addressing the crowd at the Commit to Caucus Rally at Big League Dreams, a sports complex on East Washington Avenue, Trump highlighted the need for change, stating, “We are a nation that has quite simply lost its way, but we are not going to allow this horror to continue.” He expressed his belief that the nation could once again reclaim its greatness, stating, “Three years ago, we were a great nation, and we will soon be a great nation again.”
Trump is one of two candidates participating in the Feb. 8 caucuses, held just two days after the state’s presidential preference primary. Joining Trump on the caucuses’ paper ballots is Texas pastor Ryan Binkley. Notably, Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina governor and GOP candidate, will participate in the primary but will not receive any delegates.
During the rally, Trump’s supporters displayed exceptional enthusiasm, with long lines wrapping around the sports complex. Many wore “Make America Great Again” hats and other attire, while a plane flew overhead, carrying a banner that read “Donald Trump: Ban Abortion Punish Women.”
Before Trump took the stage, conservative commentator and former Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Wayne Allyn Root pumped up the crowd, urging attendees to fight for Trump as the months leading up to November tick away. Root passionately stated, “This is our mission. This is our gift from God… Be relentless, be tenacious. Fight like cornered wolverines. Attack. Like Gen. George Patton, we will never accept defeat.”
During his speech, Trump celebrated his recent victories in the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primaries. He also took aim at his competitors, particularly targeting Nikki Haley, whom he referred to as “basically a Democrat” and criticized for advocating for an increase in the retirement age.
However, Trump’s main focus was on President Joe Biden. Trump vigorously criticized the Biden administration’s immigration policies, deeming the border a “big, gushing wound.” He expressed support for Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s efforts to maintain razor wire along the southern border and reiterated claims about drug dealers, rapists, and human trafficking across the border.
Repeating his unfounded claims of election rigging in 2020, Trump vowed to push for one-day voting, paper ballots, and the elimination of mail-in ballots. He shared his personal legal challenges, including a recent court order to pay $83 million in damages to writer E. Jean Carroll for defamation, portraying himself as a victim of weaponized law enforcement. Trump assured his supporters that he would protect their freedoms, declaring, “They’re not after me; they’re after you. I just happen to be standing in the way.”
Addressing social issues, Trump promised to sign an executive order cutting funding for schools promoting critical race theory. He also expressed his opposition to allowing men to participate in women’s sports and pledged to withhold funding from schools that impose vaccine mandates.
Supporters of Trump at the rally strongly believed that border security, crime, and the economy were the most significant issues facing Nevadans. They expressed confidence in Trump’s ability to address these challenges if re-elected in 2024. One supporter, Paula Morningstar from Las Vegas, stated, “There are very few people who can do this job effectively, and I think Trump is the No. 1 guy to get it done.”
As the crowd cheered their support, Trump left no doubt about his determination to lead the charge against the Biden administration, pledging that the president and his policies would face trial in the “ballot box in November.”
In response to Trump’s rally, the Biden-Harris for Nevada campaign emphasized that Nevadans had consistently rejected Trump at the polls. It highlighted President Biden’s efforts to bring down costs, create jobs, and foster economic growth, criticizing Trump’s stance on the economy.
As the 2024 presidential race heats up, Donald Trump’s campaign continues to gather momentum, stirring the fervor of his supporters as he sets his sights on securing victories in the Nevada caucuses and presidential election.
