When a child is senselessly killed in a DUI crash, you’d expect swift, firm justice. But here in Nevada, the legal system once again proves that personal accountability takes a back seat to leniency.
The driver responsible for the death of 5-year-old Kamari Wolfe has now been sentenced—a mere five years minimum behind bars for ending an innocent life. This wasn’t some freak accident. In October 2023, Chochi-Senobua was drunk behind the wheel of a work van near Somerset Academy Losee campus. Kamari, just a young child trying to cross safely, didn’t stand a chance.
It’s a gut-punch to anyone who believes in law and order, and a chilling reminder of how far we’ve drifted from enforcing consequences with real weight. We constantly hear about “public safety,” yet the courts seem far more focused on rehabilitation than justice.
Where’s the outcry? Why aren’t Nevada lawmakers addressing how DUI offenders—especially those who take lives—are allowed such leniency? We demand better for our families, and more accountability from a system that’s supposed to protect them.
Justice should mean something. Five years isn’t justice. It’s a mockery of the value of a child’s life.
