Eight Residences Were Destroyed by Fire and Water in Northwest Las Vegas Early Saturday, Displacing 17 People
LAS VEGAS – Firefighters said that eight homes were damaged by fire and water in the early hours of Saturday at a big apartment complex in northwest Las Vegas, displacing seventeen people.
According to Las Vegas Incident Chief Fernando Gray, no one was hurt. An investigation is underway to establish the origin of the fire and the cost of repairing the damaged homes.
At the Bella Solana Apartment Homes on 7101 Smoke Ranch Road, Gray had just finished briefing his crew while firefighters examined for hot spots, and water and ashes continued to flow into the parking lot.
At 7:13 a.m., the Las Vegas Fire Department was dispatched to the complex located at Rock Springs Drive west of U.S. Highway 95, and minutes later, the commanders requested a second alarm, bringing a total of 23 units to the site, according to Diana Paul, a spokeswoman for the department.
At 8:08 a.m., the fire was extinguished by the responding fire department. Paul reported that the Red Cross had been asked to help relocate seven adults and ten kids.
Neighbors sound the alarm on locals.
As smoke and then high flames emerged from the roof of one of the two-story buildings in the complex, some neighbors went to knock on doors to inform and help evacuate people.
