LAS VEGAS – A man was arrested in San Diego on Wednesday for stabbing and killing his ex-girlfriend while leaving her baby alive.
Michael Ricks, 24, was apprehended near a San Diego home after police learned he had a Las Vegas warrant.
Someone filmed Ricks’ arrest.
In Nevada, he’s accused of burglary with a deadly weapon, open murder, and child abuse or neglect.
An unidentified woman argued with Ricks in her home near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Washington Avenue, authorities said. He stabbed her, then escaped to San Diego.
Her parents found her dead in her home at 6:44 p.m., telling police they had left her and her daughter there before finding her dead.
Her 1-year-old daughter was found alive.
The 20-year-old lady had many stab wounds, police said. On-scene death was pronounced.
Family members took care of the child.
Ricks may oppose his extradition to Las Vegas in court.
