Incident at Green Valley High School Leads to Juvenile Arrest for Gun Possession

LAS VEGAS – On Wednesday, there was a worrying incident at Green Valley High School in Henderson, where a minor was taken into custody after a firearm was found on the school’s campus. The Clark County School District Police (CCSDPD) responded quickly to a tip they received that suggested a student might be carrying a weapon at the school.

The Principal of Green Valley High School, Kent Roberts, addressed parents in a letter, assuring them of the school’s commitment to safety and keeping them informed about the situation. In the letter, Mr. Roberts stated, “As principal, my top priority is to ensure your child is safe at school, and to keep you informed of important issues happening within our school community.”

CCSDPD conducted an investigation that led to the discovery of a firearm on the campus, resulting in the arrest of a juvenile. In an abundance of caution, additional police presence was maintained on the campus throughout the day.

Principal Roberts also took this opportunity to urge parents to engage their students in conversations about school safety and to remind them never to hesitate to report anything that could pose a safety concern to an adult.

Both students and parents were encouraged to utilize the SafeVoice reporting system, which allows anonymous reporting of potential safety issues. Reports can be made via phone at 1-833-216-SAFE (7233), through the website at safevoicenv.org, or by using the free downloadable phone app.

Principal Roberts concluded the letter with gratitude for the continued support of the school community and the importance of sharing information about potential disruptions on campus. He assured parents that the school can identify and address safety concerns effectively through their vigilance and open communication.

For any questions or concerns related to this incident or school safety, parents were encouraged to contact Green Valley High School directly at 702-799-0950.
