Lincoln Boe, an 18-year-old runaway from Idaho who was facing charges for the random killing of a homeless woman in Las Vegas, has died in custody. The Las Vegas Metro Police confirmed that Boe, who was accused of stabbing Gina Broome to death in April, died by suicide on October 28 while awaiting trial in the Clark County Detention Center. The incident, unreported until now, is under investigation.

Boe was arrested shortly after the murder, with evidence linking him to the crime, including bloody footprints and a knife found in his car. Surveillance footage captured his movements before and after the killing, including behavior that detectives described as “excited.” Indicted for murder with the use of a deadly weapon, Boe had pleaded not guilty, and his trial was scheduled for April 2025.

The Metro Police Department, which oversees the detention center, has stated that investigations into in-custody deaths remain active. This case adds to concerns about mental health resources and the broader justice system, as Boe’s death leaves questions unanswered about accountability and the opportunity for closure.
