LAS VEGAS – A Las Vegas family woke up to a large tree lying in their driveway after it toppled over due to strong winds at 11 p.m. on a Tuesday night.
The tree blocked the garage where Kelsey Allen keeps her car, making it impossible for her to leave.
Arborists from High End Companies, LLC arrived to clean up the tree only around 2 p.m. the following day.
According to Edgar Larios, an arborist from the company, it had been a busy morning as many other trees had also fallen due to the strong winds.
Larios estimated that the cost of removing the fallen tree could range from $4,000 to $5,500 and stated that it would not be possible to replace it as trees that large are not easily replaceable.
The root systems of trees in Las Vegas are shallow, making them more susceptible to falling during strong winds.
Allen had previously contacted Homes 4 Rent, the property rental company for her home, about the tree’s roots lifting six months prior but did not receive a response.
No damage was done to the home.
