Las Vegas, NV – Several iconic landmarks in Las Vegas will illuminate in teal on November 1st to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease. This initiative is part of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s (AFA) Light the World in Teal program.
The Nevada State Capitol Building, High Roller Observation Wheel, Keep Memory Alive Event Center, and One Summerlin will join over 1,300 landmarks worldwide in lighting up teal to symbolize support for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s.
“It’s truly inspiring to see some of Las Vegas’ most recognizable landmarks shine a light on Alzheimer’s disease,” said Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., President and CEO of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. “By going teal, they are demonstrating their commitment to raising awareness and supporting those impacted by this devastating disease.”
Individuals are encouraged to participate in the initiative by wearing teal on November 1st and sharing their support on social media using the hashtag #LightTheWorldInTeal.
Alzheimer’s disease affects millions of Americans, including an estimated 55,000 Nevadans. The number of people living with the disease is projected to double by 2060, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
