LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – For attempting to solicit sex from a minor, a Las Vegas man was put in prison.
According to court papers, Mario Demarlo Alston, 44, pled guilty in June 2022 to counts of coercion and enticement. On May 3, 2020, Alston was conversing online with someone he thought was 15 years old. According to court records, he sought to plan a meeting with the person during their message exchange in order to engage in sexual activities for money.
Law enforcement arrested Alston at the meeting location.
Court filings also indicated that Alston was under investigation in 2017 for soliciting sex from a 13-year-old and then sexually assaulted the kid. He pled guilty to Nevada state charges, but failed to attend for his sentencing hearing, resulting in the issuance of a bench warrant.
At the time of his most recent arrest, the bench warrant was still active.
Alston was sentenced to 87 months in prison, followed by a lifetime supervised release period.
The FBI and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigated this case.
