LAS VEGAS – Friday, a Las Vegas man was given a sentence of 24 years and 4 months in prison and a lifetime of supervision for sexually exploiting a child.
Barry Allen Gabelman, who was 52 years old, was found guilty of coercion and enticement by a jury in June 2022. The Sex Offender Registration Notification Act says that Gabelman has to register as a sex offender when he gets out of prison.
Court documents say that from October 31 to December 6, 2019, Gabelman sent sexually explicit messages and photos to people he thought were an 11-year-old girl and her stepfather through social media and a messaging account.
During their conversations, Gabelman talked about having sex with the girl, asked to see pictures of her naked, and sent the girl pictures of his private parts.
On December 6, 2019, he went to a prearranged place in Las Vegas to have sex with the girl, but he was arrested by police instead.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children can be reached at 1-800-843-5678 or https://report.cybertip.org by anyone who thinks a child is being sexually exploited.
