LAS VEGAS – On Thursday morning, 24-year-old Tyson Hampton pleaded not guilty to all 28 charges he faces in connection with the shooting death of a Las Vegas police officer.
At his appearance in Clark County District Court, Hampton entered his plea and answered the judge’s inquiries.
In October, when Officer Truong Thai and another officer went to a report of a domestic battery, Hampton is said to have opened fire on them. Officer Thai was fatally wounded in the middle and pronounced dead that day at Sunrise Hospital.
The death sentence has been requested for Hampton, who is being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center.
The trial by jury has been set for February 2024, and a readiness review is slated for May of this year.
