Las Vegas Metropolitan Police (LVMPD) have identified the suspect wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the lives of two teenagers last week.
Luis Angel Equihua Murillo, 20, is accused of running a red light at the intersection of Charleston and Hollywood boulevards on Friday, July 5th. His vehicle, believed to be unspecified at this time, collided with a 1997 Honda CR-V. The two occupants of the Honda, 19-year-old Ethan Velasquez and 18-year-old Julian Torres, tragically died from their injuries.
According to LVMPD Sgt. Rich Rundell, investigators have been searching for Equihua Murillo for the past six days without success. He is currently facing charges of reckless driving resulting in death (two counts) and leaving the scene of a crash involving death (two counts). Court records confirm a warrant for his arrest was issued on Tuesday.
“We urge Mr. Equihua Murillo to turn himself in,” Sgt. Rundell stated. “It’s never too late to take responsibility for your actions.”
Anyone with information regarding Equihua Murillo’s whereabouts is urged to contact the LVMPD’s Fatal Detail Unit. To remain anonymous, tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
