Las Vegas, NV – A Las Vegas police sergeant accused of making several illegal arrests is now facing additional charges related to child pornography.
Sergeant Kevin Menon was arrested on Wednesday for two counts of possession of visual presentations depicting the sexual conduct of persons under 16 years old. These new charges stem from an ongoing investigation into the original allegations against him.
Menon was initially arrested in August on multiple counts of oppression under color of office. A grand jury indicted him earlier this month, alleging that he fabricated incidents to detain or arrest individuals without probable cause.
Menon appeared in court on Wednesday morning for an arraignment hearing after posting bail for his August arrest. News 3 has reached out to his attorney for comment.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department suspended Menon in May pending further investigation and subsequently placed him on leave without pay in September.
Menon has been employed by the department since 2014 and was assigned to the tourist safety division of the Convention Center Area Command.
