LAS VEGAS – Blessings Moments The community is being thanked by a house of prayer near east Lake Mead and Nellis for responding to its appeal for toys for children who may not receive anything beneath the Christmas tree this year.
“I’m not going to cry,” Shirley Collier of Moments of Blessings House of Prayer remarked.
Earlier this week, the church announced that it would only have a few items to distribute during a holiday function this Friday and urged the community for toy donations.
Transition Services, a non-profit that assists people with intellectual impairments, was the first to step forward and provide over 80 toys. Crews are working to clean up the valley. Catalytic converters were stolen from four Transition Services work vans. Damages were assessed at $12,000 by the organization. The crew, however, was a FOX5 Surprise Squad. United Nissan’s Don Forman replaced the converters on the work vans for free. He rented vans for personnel to use while repairs were being done and promised to keep those work vans in the future. Transition Services says it provided toys to Moments of Blessings House of Prayer because of Don Forman’s generosity.
On top of what Transition Services provided, several others had given dozens of gifts by Thursday. Dolls, motorcycles, a “Connect Four” game, Hot Wheels, and other toys were among the gifts.
“I’m very grateful for Las Vegas and the many names that have stopped by and simply donated. Many people came, cried, prayed, spoke, and simply loved being there. And I’m grateful. “I’m very grateful,” Collier remarked.
Toys will be distributed to children at a holiday function at the church on Friday night. It begins at 7:00 p.m. People can still donate toys, bikes, or cash in order to purchase toys and other stuff. The church requests that donors phone beforehand so that someone can be there to accept donations.
According to the church, parents who are unable to purchase gifts for their children may attend the holiday event. The address is 5225 Meikle Lane, close east Lake Mead and Nellis.
The church’s phone number is 702-631-1195. People can also contact Shirley Collier at 702-716-3603.
