LAS VEGAS – Lee Canyon Resort has announced that it will remain closed until at least Friday, Aug. 25, in accordance with the closure of the Spring Mountain National Recreation Area (SMNRA) by the US Forest Service.

Tropical Storm Hilary brought substantial rainfall to Lee Canyon over the weekend, with a recorded total of 9.8 inches, as stated in a recent media release. Once the closure is lifted, the resort’s personnel will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the storm’s impact on the area and determine whether continued closure is necessary.

“Lee Canyon received a tremendous amount of rain in a short period. Our crews are preparing to thoroughly study the storm’s impact on our terrain,” said Dan Hooper, General Manager of Lee Canyon. “Lee Canyon’s priority is to ensure public safety. We appreciate the community’s patience as we move through this experience.”

A spokesperson for Lee Canyon added that shelter-in-place measures are still in effect for both residents and visitors within the canyon. An Evacuation Shelter has been set up for evacuees.
