Man Headed to Las Vegas Trade Show Has Anti Tank Rifle Confiscated at Texas Airport

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – A demilitarized rifle was recently seized by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) when a man was discovered to be carrying the weapon while traveling to Nevada.

The traveler, who was scheduled to attend the Shooting and Hunting Outdoor Trade Show, or SHOT Show, in Las Vegas, was on his way there, according to a report by an NBC affiliate station in Austin.

According to a Twitter post, TSA personnel at the San Antonio International Airport discovered the firearm and seized it from a male traveler’s luggage on Monday.

As long as a traveler declares the firearm, keeps it empty, and places it in a closed, hard-sided container within a checked luggage, the TSA maintains it is OK to fly with a handgun.

The passenger was later led to the agents’ office when it was discovered that he had not disclosed the 84MM Carl-Gustaf M4 recoilless rifle.

According to police, the guy intended to display the weapon during the trade expo, which will be held in Las Vegas from January 17 through January 20.

The individual was allowed to rebook a ticket to Nevada without the firearm, which a family member picked up after TSA interrogation, and no charges are now pending.

  • It's probably just a dummy or replica. There is no anti-tank weapons being used in this country. But Army/Navy surplus stores have had them for years. As well as any Paramount or Warner Brothers prop room.
