Man Murders His Ex Wife New Lover and Another Man Holds a Shotgun at Police Officers

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – Police claimed in a press conference Tuesday that one of the suspects in two shootings involving Las Vegas Metropolitan Police last Friday that left two suspects dead pointed a shotgun at officers and took his ex-brother wife’s hostage after murdering her lover.

The first police shooting that night occurred with a stakeout at 6:20 p.m. According to authorities, the incident occurred at Spring Mountain Road and Jones Boulevard.

Someone called 911 at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 4 to report a gunshot at a residence near Washington Avenue and Michael Way. Officers came to find Jano Gonzalez Blanco, 48, with several gunshot wounds. He died at the site later.

Blanco was shot by his girlfriend’s ex-husband, identified as 49-year-old Jose Alexis Cabrera Hernandez, and investigators determined that Hernandez had kidnapped the woman’s older brother as a hostage.

SWAT police subsequently discovered Hernandez’s car, inhabited by him and the captive, in an alley in downtown Las Vegas. The captive was zip-tied as Hernandez drove away, and cops began following them surreptitiously, according to authorities.

According to investigators, while driving, Hernandez contacted his ex-wife four times, admitting to killing her new boyfriend because he was “standing in the way” of the two getting back together, and claimed he would sell her brother for her and his passport so they could fly to Mexico together.

Around 8:46 p.m., Hernandez drove into the parking lot of a company on Spring Mountain Road, parked, and got out of the car with the captive. They started walking away, but when Hernandez noticed police, they jumped back in the car and started driving away. According to authorities, the automobile was boxed in by cops who approached in an attempt to free the captive.

Officer Dewane Ferrin, 49, shot one bullet at Hernandez, who was seated in the driver’s seat, as authorities were attempting to rescue the hostage. According to investigators, Hernandez died after the captive was released.

Police claimed Hernandez was equipped with two firearms and fired six rounds from one of them when he murdered Blanco.

Officers discovered a manifesto written by Hernandez in the vehicle, in which he vowed to kill other municipal officials who had anything to do with his criminal background. He also had several zip ties in his car, which authorities suspect were intended to be used to carry out the manifesto, according to police.

The manifesto, written in Spanish, also lists numerous religious authorities whom he urges to assist him in carrying out measures against the persons named in it.

Had Hernandez survived, he would have faced accusations of murder, abduction, and illegally having a firearm.

Officer Ferrin was placed on paid administrative leave awaiting the conclusion of an investigation into the shooting.

The second gunshot involving police occurred at 7:30 p.m. along Lake Mead and North Rampart Boulevards Police got reports of a guy carrying a pistol outside of his home, identified as 62-year-old Rodney Franklin Finch.

According to the individual who contacted 911, Finch brandished a gun at him and his passengers as they drove out of the area.

Finch was wandering in and out of his house for 20 minutes, sometimes armed with a shotgun, sometimes not, according to authorities.

They said that when Finch went out with the shotgun, he hoisted it and pointed it towards cops.

According to authorities, Finch fired no shots at policemen but had six bullets in his revolver and seven in his pocket. If he had survived, his charges would have been assault with a deadly weapon and assault with a dangerous weapon on a protected person.

Officer Crosby has been placed on normal paid administrative leave awaiting an investigation.
